The Black Dragon is the pinnacle of Crimson Desert's combat system. This encounter is divided into three distinct stages: Siege, Aerial Pursuit, and The Final Duel. You will need to use every skill, mercenary, and tool in your arsenal to survive the dragon's fury.

🛡️ Preparation (Endgame Gear)

• Recommended Level: 45+
• Best Weapon: Longbow (with Precision Shot) and Greatsword (for wing-breaking).
• Essential Tool: Wings of the Crow. Ensure your gliding stamina is fully upgraded.
• Essential Items: * Fireproof Elixirs: Reduces dragonfire damage by 50%.
  • Dragon-Slaying Bolts: Special ammunition found in the arena’s ballistas.

⚔️ Phase 1: The Siege (The Ground War)

The Dragon starts by strafing the battlefield with fire and landing to crush defenders.

• Inferno Breath: A massive sweeping flame that covers 50% of the arena.
  • Reaction: Use your Grappling Hook to swing to the high stone towers—they are the only safe zones from the ground-level heat.
• Tail Sweep: A 360-degree attack that destroys all cover.
  • Reaction: Double-jump or use the Wings of the Crow to hover briefly above the impact zone.
• Goal: Use the Heavy Ballistas scattered around the castle to hit the dragon’s wing joints. Two successful hits will force it to crash.

⚔️ Phase 2: The Sky Hunt (Aerial Combat)

Once grounded, the Dragon will attempt to flee to its mountain nest. Kliff must follow.

• The Leap of Faith: Use the updrafts from the dragon's wings to launch into the air and deploy your Wings of the Crow.
• Mid-Air Grapple: Aim your hook at the Dragon's tail or back while gliding.
• Aerial Strike: While latched on, you must crawl toward the neck while dodging the Dragon's attempt to barrel-roll and shake you off.

⚔️ Phase 3: The Broken King (The Final Duel)

The fight ends in a scorched crater. The Dragon can no longer fly, but its physical attacks are now infused with pure magma.

• Magma Burst: The Dragon slams its claws, causing lava to erupt.
  • Reaction: Watch the cracks in the ground. They glow 2 seconds before erupting.
• The Death Grip: If the Dragon grabs Kliff, it’s an instant game over.
  • Counter: Keep your Mettle Bar full to trigger a Mercenary Synergy (Vanguard Shield) to block this grab.

🤼 The Winning Strategy: "The Heart of the Drake"

1. Break the Wings: Focusing on the wings in Phase 1 makes Phase 3 much easier, as the Dragon will move slower.
2. Call the Greymanes: Use the "Focus Fire" command on the Dragon's chest. Your archers and mages can deal consistent damage while you dodge the primary attacks.
3. The Final Blow: When the Dragon reaches 5% HP, a prompt for a "Grand Finisher" will appear. Kliff will use the Dragon’s own momentum for a legendary strike through its heart.
