Fast Travel & Mounts: Mastering Movement

Pywel is vast, and your time is valuable. To truly conquer the continent, you must master the three pillars of movement: The Abyss Nexus Network (Fast Travel), Mount Mastery (Land), and The Wings of the Crow (Air). Patch 1.01.00 significantly improved travel with faster load times and five new legendary mounts.

1. πŸŒ€ The Abyss Nexus Network (Fast Travel)

Throughout the map, you will find ancient, glowing structures known as Abyss Nexuses (also called Abyss Cressets in some regions).

  • How to Activate: You must physically reach a Nexus and interact with it to "link" it to your network.
  • Cost: Fast traveling is now faster than ever thanks to Patch 1.01.00, which significantly reduced loading times between locations.
  • Pro Tip: Always look for high ground; Abyss Nexuses are often placed on ridges to serve as vantage points for your next destination. Patch 1.00.03 also added more Abyss Nexuses across the continent for improved travel convenience.

2. 🐎 Mounts: Your Faithful Companions

Horses are not just vehicles in Crimson Desert; they are survival partners with their own stamina and skills. Patch 1.01.00 introduced 5 new legendary summonable mounts that can be called instantly:

  • New Legendary Mounts (Patch 1.01.00):
    • White Bear β€” A powerful mount with high stamina and cold resistance
    • Silver Fang β€” A swift wolf-like mount with exceptional speed
    • White Snow Deer β€” An elegant mount with enhanced jumping ability
    • Rock Tusk Boar β€” A sturdy mount capable of charging through obstacles
    • Ice Spire Mountain Goat β€” A nimble mount specialized for climbing steep terrain
  • Taming Wild Horses: 1. Approach a wild herd crouched (Stealth). 2. Use a Sugar Cube or high-quality Carrot to calm them. 3. Complete the "Bucking" minigame by balancing your weight.
  • Mount Skills: As your horse levels up, it unlocks skills like Drift (for sharp turns) and Charge (to trample small enemies).
  • Stable Management: You can register up to 5 horses at any major city stable. Check their Tierβ€”higher-tier horses have better sprint endurance.

3. πŸ¦… Wings of the Crow (Aerial Movement)

This is Kliff's signature exploration ability, allowing him to transform into a crow-like mist to glide or soar.

  • How to Trigger: Double-jump from a high ledge and hold the Jump button.
  • Stamina Management: Gliding drains a specific "Air Stamina" bar. Patch 1.01.00 reduced stamina consumption for gliding, allowing for longer flights.
    • Upgrade Path: Collect Wind Shards from Sky Islands to increase your flight duration.
  • The Combat Drop: You can transition from flight directly into a heavy plunging attack by pressing the Attack button while gliding.
  • Force Palm: As of Patch 1.00.03, this aerial ability is learned much earlier in the game, allowing you to boost upward mid-air to reach previously inaccessible locations.

4. πŸͺ The Grappling Hook (Verticality)

For steep cliffs where horses can't go and flight is too slow:

  • The Swing: Use the hook to swing across chasms.
  • The Pull: Hook onto specific tree branches or rock outcroppings to zip-line upward instantly.
