Gathering & Inventory: The Efficient Survivor's Guide

In the vast world of Pywel, you will constantly find yourself picking up herbs, ores, and monster trophies. However, loot is a double-edged sword. Weight (负重) and Inventory Slots (背包格子) are limited. Managing your hoard efficiently is the key to spending more time exploring and less time running back to town.

🎒 1. Understanding the Weight System

Unlike many modern RPGs, Crimson Desert features a realistic weight mechanic that directly impacts your combat performance.

  • Light (0-50%): No movement penalties. Normal stamina regeneration.
  • Heavy (51-90%): Increased stamina consumption for sprinting and dodging. Reduced jump height.
  • Overburdened (90%+): You cannot sprint or dodge. Attack animations become significantly slower.
  • Pro Tip: Always check your weight before entering a Boss arena. Being "Heavy" during a fight like White Horn is a death sentence.

🛠️ 2. How to Increase Carrying Capacity

Don't drop your precious loot! Use these methods to carry more:

  1. Mount Saddlebags: Your horse is your mobile storage. Transfer heavy ores and extra gear to your horse's inventory by standing near it and opening the interaction menu.
  2. Strength Training: In Pywel, your maximum weight increases slightly as you level up your "Physicality" stat through activities like sprinting and climbing while carrying a moderate load.
  3. The Merchant’s Pouch: Look for specialized Tailors in major cities (like Hernand) who sell inventory expansions for silver.
  4. Mercenary Mules: Certain mercenaries have traits that allow them to carry extra weight for the squad.

🌿 3. Gathering Essentials: What to Keep?

Not all items are created equal. Focus on these high-priority resources during the early game:

  • Iron & Copper Ores: Vital for early gear enhancement at the Blacksmith.
  • Wild Herbs (Lavender/Sage): Essential for crafting basic healing potions at campfires.
  • Animal Hide: Used for repairing your armor and the armor of your mercenaries.
  • Lore Items: Always pick these up! They weigh nothing (0.0 weight) and often trigger hidden legendary weapon quests.

🗑️ 4. Inventory Cleanup Strategy

If you are stuck in the wilderness and overburdened, follow this "Discard Priority":

  1. Low-tier Weapons/Armor: These are heavy and provide very little silver when sold. Disassemble them for scrap if you have the tools.
  2. Common Food Ingredients: Items like "Potatoes" or "Flour" are heavy and easily replaced.
  3. Monster "Junk" Loot: Items with a grey icon that say "Can be sold to a merchant" are safe to discard if you need space for rare materials.

🛡️ Data Accuracy Statement

Weight penalties and gathering mechanics are verified via 2024 technical playtest reports and official exploration showcases. Inventory UI and slot costs are subject to balance changes in the day-one patch.
