Gathering & Inventory: The Efficient Survivor's Guide

In the vast world of Pywel, you will constantly find yourself picking up herbs, ores, and monster trophies. However, loot is a double-edged sword. Weight (负重) and Inventory Slots (背包格子) are limited. Managing your hoard efficiently is the key to spending more time exploring and less time running back to town.

🎒 1. Understanding the Inventory System

Unlike many RPGs, Crimson Desert uses a slot-based inventory system—there is no weight penalty for equipment! You can wear your best armor without slowing down. However, inventory slot management is crucial.

  • Starting Capacity: You begin with 50 inventory slots (increased from 20 based on player feedback).
  • Equipment: Weapons and armor do not consume inventory slots when equipped—they have dedicated equipment slots.
  • Stacking: Ammo, food, and crafting materials stack, but most other items take one slot each.
  • Pro Tip: Don't worry about wearing heavy armor—it won't slow you down! Focus on managing your inventory slots instead.

🛠️ 2. How to Increase Inventory Slots

Don't drop your precious loot! Use these methods to carry more:

  1. Small Bags from Vendors: Nearly every merchant sells one Small Bag for 50 Copper, adding 1 slot permanently. Check every vendor you encounter!
  2. Medium/Large Bags from Quests: Complete Faction Quests and Commissions to earn Medium Bags (+3 slots) and Large Bags (+5 slots). The Hernand Commissions quest line is especially rewarding.
  3. Private Storage: Store crafting materials at your Private Storage in Hernand or Howling Hill Camp (added in Patch 1.00.03). Patch 1.02.00 expanded storage up to 1000 slots based on Greymane camp expansion level (starts at 240, max at 1000).
  4. Horse Inventory: Your horse has its own inventory slots. Transfer extra gear to your mount when exploring.

🌿 3. Gathering Essentials: What to Keep?

Not all items are created equal. Focus on these high-priority resources during the early game:

  • Iron & Copper Ores: Vital for early gear enhancement at the Blacksmith.
  • Wild Herbs (Lavender/Sage): Essential for crafting basic healing potions at campfires.
  • Animal Hide: Used for repairing your armor and the armor of your mercenaries.
  • Lore Items: Always pick these up! They weigh nothing (0.0 weight) and often trigger hidden legendary weapon quests.

🗑️ 4. Inventory Cleanup Strategy

If you are stuck in the wilderness and overburdened, follow this "Discard Priority":

  1. Low-tier Weapons/Armor: These are heavy and provide very little silver when sold. Disassemble them for scrap if you have the tools.
  2. Common Food Ingredients: Items like "Potatoes" or "Flour" are heavy and easily replaced.
  3. Monster "Junk" Loot: Items with a grey icon that say "Can be sold to a merchant" are safe to discard if you need space for rare materials.
